Used to save lives, now I'm saving my sanity

For years, I listened to other people’s stories — at bedsides, in hallways, during quiet moments between chaos. As a nurse, I held hands, gave comfort, and heard the kinds of truths that only come out when someone’s world is turning. It shaped me in ways I’m only now beginning to understand. Now, I’m on a new path — one made not of hospital corridors, but of blank pages and unspoken thoughts. I’m writing because I believe stories can heal. Not just the ones with happy endings, but the raw, real, deeply human ones that connect us, remind us, and maybe even shift something inside us. This space will hold pieces of me — reflections from my past, lessons I’ve learned, and honest glimpses into life as I live it now. I’ll write about growth, loss, creativity, and the quiet, messy beauty of becoming. If you’re here, welcome. I hope my words meet you where you are — and maybe help you move forward, just a little.

Creativity Corner

Today I started a new cross stitching project I recently got off of Amazon.  The title of the picture is 'Knowledge is Power'. It's pretty intricate...wish me luck!

Stand Up Boss Ladies

Voted Best Senior Vehicle and Biggest Mooch in June 2001. Those were my senior superlatives I took with me.  I was offended and knew I had my tribe of followers at that moment.  Having a fan club when you're from school were the confederate flag is all they know means I had to fill some big shoes.   Perhaps it was my love of foreign vehicles or it was the"Dragon Slayer" decal on my windshield. I may have rubbed someone the wrong way. Regardless I know my Mitsubishi Eclipse and Toyota Celica were my little own kit. Eat my shorts.  I even received a visit from law enforcement once and not the good kind while in school one day. He wrote me a ticket in my first class. Guess he was either impressed by my whip, family name or he had a dragon as a pet.  Who knows...

The Unbelievable like Us

If you're like me attempting different approaches to better yourself or some new change with anything can be intimidating.  I am not disciplined enough but I have the means and the will to be this way for sure.  One thing I keep in mind from my childhood is practice makes perfect.   Having ADHD can display as lazy or undisciplined but we're definitely not stupid. I consider my ADHD as a gift and I know I'm talented. We, fellow ADHDers, will do what we planned with the proper guidance and eventually the warrior mentality will emerge. Please continue to find your way because we need to understand that we will not be misunderstood. Stay on your path and your new journey will be best remembered for that clear attention.

Learning

Some adults consider themselves professional students with the many courses now offered to advance careers.  I once was one of these but decided to step back. I realize learning can be many different things.  I want to learn about my family's history,  myself, and life.  It's exciting to gain new insights into something.
